The University of South Carolina
offers the Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series for scholastically talented rising 6th-12th graders this summer.  Some available courses include Adventures in Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, Forensic Science, Web Design and Development, Broadcast Journalism, Vex Robotics, Writing, Computer Gaming, and Cameras and Graphic Design.  For more information and class descriptions, visit http://saeu.sc.edu/adventures/.

Converse College offers several workshops during the summer for grades 9th through 11th.  Explore the world of forensic science in CSI:Converse or  attend the Young Writers Workshop.  For applications and more information, go online to www.converse.edu/summerworkshops.

Camp Woodie exists to educate our youth on the basics of waterfowl and wildlife conservation and is sponsored by the SC Waterfowl Association.  For more information, visit their website at www.scwa.org.

Summer Camps through the Clemson University Youth Learning Institute are offered this summer.  The camps include 4-H Summer Camp, Camp Wildlife, Camp Voyager, Camp Sewee and Adventure Summer Camp.  For more information, go to the website at www.ylicamps.com.

The Savannah College of Art and Design's (SCAD) summer programs offer students of all ages the opportunity to immerse themselves in an exciting, creative environment.  Courses are offered in Atlanta and Savannah.  For more information, visit www.scad.edu/summer.

The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is accepting applications for its 2011 Summer Programs.  Applications are available online at www.scgsah.org/section/admissions.   Summer Programs include:

  • Discovery - A two-week program in Creative Writing, Drama, Music or Visual Arts for rising 9th graders. Apply in the 8th grade.

  • Academy - A two-week program in Creative Writing, Drama, Music or Visual Arts for rising 10th grade students. Apply in the 9th grade.

  • Summer Dance - A five-week program in ballet and modern dance for rising 7th through 12th graders. Apply in grades 6-11.

FURMAN SUMMER SCHOLARS is a week-long summer program for rising juniors and seniors who are interested in challenging  themselves both in and outside the classroom.  There are two sessions: .  Learn more about Summer Scholars online at www.engagefurman.com.

 

The George Washington University Pre-College program is offered to rising seniors who are interested in challenging themselves while earning credits in Washington D.C.
